Maitri Sangha, established in 1952, is a distinguished social and sports organization dedicated to fostering community development, sportsmanship, and cultural unity in Nadia district. Since its inception, the club has been a driving force in bringing people together through various social and athletic initiatives.

“Maitri Sangha” — today a distinguished name in the Payradanga region of Nadia district, widely known for its contributions to sports, culture, social service, Durga Puja, and various other activities. Standing in the twenty-first century, the contribution this institution has made to Bengali culture rests on a foundation laid seventy-five years ago.
In 1952, a group of culturally inclined Bengalis who had migrated from the then East Bengal founded this organization to preserve and uphold their heritage. Those whose awareness and dedication shaped the roots of this institution were the revered:
Late Atul Krishna Bose, Late Purna Chandra Dutta, Late Pankaj Kumar Ganguly, Late Prafulla Chandra Pal, Late Shyamapada Chakraborty, Late Shishir Kumar Biswas, Late Sukumar Biswas, Shri Nikhil Krishna Guha, Late Dilip Chakraborty, Late Mukunda Chandra De, Late Sirdhendu Sarkar, Late Satish Paul, Late Jagadish Chakraborty, Late Ashutosh Mazumder, Late Ramesh Chandra Dutta Roy, Late Ashutosh Chakraborty and others.
The responsibility of the present generation and current members is to carry forward the social development that these socially conscious individuals initiated through the establishment of Maitri Sangha.
We offer our deepest respect and heartfelt salutations to all the revered pioneers who guided the leadership of this organization.

1997, 31st of August

Exhibition Match – “Maitri Sangha XI vs. Calcutta XI”


On 31 August 1997, under the leadership and inspiration of Nadia district’s renowned goalkeeper Shri Chandan (Nantu Da) Bhattacharya, and with the support of Shri Mainak Das along with all members of Maitri Sangha, an exhibition match titled “Maitri Sangha XI vs. Calcutta XI” was organized. News of the event spread widely across Nadia district as well as Kolkata. Nearly ten thousand spectators attended this sensational match.
The chief guest and main supervisor of the exhibition match was Shri Sailen Manna, and the match director was FIFA referee Shri Sudhin Chatterjee. The skills displayed by the star players filled the field with excitement and emotion. Although thrilling, the game ended in a 2–2 draw.
The players who shook the field on behalf of Calcutta XI included: Jamshid Nassiri, Sudhir Chatterjee, Biswajit Bhattacharya, Ranjit Mukherjee, Bidesh Bose, Gautam Sarkar, Surajit Sengupta, Pintu Chowdhury, among others.
Matching them stride for stride, the players who represented Maitri Sangha and fought valiantly were: Prashanta Das, Bablu Biswas, Piku Ghosh, Bablu Ghosh, Kesto Mitra, Bibek Bose, Bidyut Mitra, Kele Pal, and others.

January 26, 2026

The 75th anniversary celebration will commence with a “Prabhat Pheri” (morning procession) marking the auspicious beginning of the year-long festivities of Maitri Sangha.

 March 1, 2026

Organization of an “Inter-Club Sports/Athletes Tournament.”

From the second week of March to the second week of April-2026

An eight-team knockout football tournament will be held among clubs from various parts of West Bengal.

Mid-May-2026

medical camp and blood donation drive will be organized.

 Mid October-2026

A seven-day-long celebration of Sharadotsav (DurgaPuja) showcasing artistic and cultural creativity.

Last week of December-2026

A grand cultural program featuring performances by eminent artists.
